FoSLL Mission Statement

The purpose of the Friends of Silver Lake Library shall be to promote increased knowledge of the Los Angeles Public Library, Silver Lake Branch via the following activities: maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; stimulate and promote informed public interest in the Silver Lake Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, its services, facilities, and needs; encourage and receive gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library; support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community; sponsor and encourage volunteer service for FoSLL activities; promote cultural and related programs for the community.

Background The Silver Lake Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library system will be located at the southwest corner of Silver Lake and Glendale Boulevards. Preliminary program and plans are being prepared by M2A Architects. Preparation of construction plans began after a September 19, 2005 meeting presenting design concepts to the community. The Board of Library Commissioners has approved the architectural drawings and construction is underway. Completion is expected in early 2009.	Send Us Mail
