Background The Silver Lake Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library system is located at 2411 Glendale Blvd., the southwest corner of Silver Lake and Glendale Boulevards, in Los Angeles. The library opened on Monday, November 16, 2009. FoSLL Mission Statement The purpose of the Friends of Silver Lake Library shall be to promote increased knowledge of the Los Angeles Public Library, Silver Lake Branch via the following activities: maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; stimulate and promote informed public interest in the Silver Lake Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, its services, facilities, and needs; encourage and receive gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library; support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community; sponsor and encourage volunteer service for FoSLL activities; promote cultural and related programs for the community. La Misión de los Amigos de la Biblioteca de Silver Lake (FoSLL) El propósito de esta organización es de promover y diseminar, a través de las siguientes actividades, el conocimiento de la nueva sucursal en Silver Lake de la Biblioteca Pública de Los Angeles: Mantener una asociación de personas interesadas en bibliotecas; estimular y promover el interes del público en las actividades, servicios y necesidades de la sucursal de la biblioteca de Silver Lake; promover y recibir regalos, donaciones y legados para la biblioteca; apoyar y cooperar con la biblioteca en el desarrollo de servicios y lugares de encuentro para la comunidad; patrocinar y alentar a voluntarios para FoSLL; promover programas culturales para la comunidad. |
